Sustainability

One Step at a Time

Sustainability is important to our hotel. We understand the importance of taking initiative, even as a small business. That’s why we’re committed to making a positive impact, one step at a time. Discover our current sustainability actions below, including reducing waste, conserving energy, and supporting local communities.

Together, we can create a greener future and provide our guests with an eco-friendly and responsible stay.

Garden

Our garden covers the largest part of the property and is an essential part of the greenery of our hotel. It gives space to many insects, reptiles, and birds and keeps our soil vital. We meticulously take care of all the plants so that during a walk, you will find mango -, avocado -, banana trees, palms, colorful flowers, cacti, insects, birds, or even lizards.

Kitchen

Our Restaurant, Ai Mamita, uses mostly local, natural, and seasonal ingredients. Our seafood is sourced from small local fishers in Santa Catalina and Hicaco.
Fruits and vegetables come from close by farms and are delivered without plastic packaging.

Trash is separated into organic, metal, glass, and general waste.

Plastic

We provide recycled glass bottles for water in all rooms and in the restaurant that can be refilled for free to reduce plastic bottled water use.

All plastic straws were replaced by metal ones.

Electricity

All Air Conditioners should be turned off when guests are not in their rooms. Lights in the restaurant and hotel are turned off during the day.

Water

We will change bedsheets only every three days for more extended stays or, upon request, more frequently.
Villa Coco is a small family-run boutique hotel in Santa Catalina, an oasis dedicated to relaxation and serenity.
